Dedicated Student Staff

The student staff that make up the TLTC are critical in facilitating learning and helping students build knowledge. We are always looking for dedicated peer tutors, Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders, Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) Leaders, and front desk student assistants who are interested in engaging their peers in lifelong learning.

Requirements

  • Have a 3.0 or higher overall GPA
  • Be a currently enrolled CSUDH student taking at least 6-units
  • Obtain a faculty recommendation for the specific content/course
  • Be able to commit to a set schedule for the entire semester
  • Have strong communication & interpersonal skills

Job Descriptions

If you are interested in working for the TLTC, there are five different opportunities. Please read the descriptions below and submit your application online.

Content Tutors

Meet with students in an individual or group tutoring format to clarify course concepts, lectures, and readings, or practice essential skills.

Currently seeking tutors in these areas for Academic Year 2017-18: Writing, History, Business Statistics and Accounting.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders

SI Leaders facilitate group sessions wherein students can meet to improve their understanding of course material, review and discuss important concepts, develop study strategies and prepare for exams. SI Leaders also prepare weekly plans, reflections, reports and help assist in collecting data.

Currently seeking SI Leaders for these courses for Academic Year 2017-18: BIO 120, 220, 250.

Front Desk

Front Desk Student Assistants assist in staffing the front desk, providing excellent, professional customer service, and courteous-accurate information by phone and in person to students, staff, faculty, and the greater campus community. Clerical duties include appointment scheduling and check-in, mail distribution, filing, making copies, and preparing test materials.

Currently seeking Front Desk Student Assistant with Graphic Design capabilities.
