Since 1991, the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC), a student-led committee, serves as an advisory to the Director of the Student Health & Psychological Services. SHAC advocates for the CSUDH student, while working with the Student Health & Psychological Services to help identify student needs as well as develop, implement, and refine services to meet those needs. This is an open support group for men & women of all sizes who are struggling with their weight, nutrition and food. Student Health Center physician, Sophia Momand will give you an overview of that disease and introduce the new MRP-455 which is an intelligent tool that can be used in the treatment and prevention of obesity. Join us on Thursday, September 10, 2015 for World Suicide Prevention Day for a Candlelight Vigil on the East Walkway from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Light a candle and write a note to help bring awareness. On September 9th to September 10th we will have our Suicide Awareness Lawn Campaign on the North Lawn of Loker Student Union.
On September 14 & September 15 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM the campus will have the opportunity to meet the Psychologists in the Student Health Center and ask any questions related to mental health and illness.
Join us on October 7 and 8 as Student Health & Psychological Services is dedicated to bringing awareness about mental health and illness. Green ribbons will be available for our students, faculty and staff to pick up and wear in support of reducing the stigma of mental illness. October 10 is World Mental Health Awareness Day, plan to wear your green ribbon and begin the conversation about mental health awareness.
