Students making oral presentations will be given 20 minutes (five minutes to set up their presentation, 10 minutes for the actual presentation and five minutes for questions and answers) to present their work. If you finish early, the session chair will not call the next student to the podium until that talk is officially scheduled in the program. So, please do not speak too fast and pace your talk so it fills the allotted time.
You will be called to the podium exactly at the time it is scheduled in the program. Arrive at your session at least 15 minutes before it begins to load your presentation on the computer. If you do not load your presentation before the session begins, you will have to load it at the beginning of your presentation time thereby losing valuable minutes for speaking if a problem arises.
You will be introduced by the session chair who will read your name and the names of the other authors as well as the title of your talk and author affiliations. Be sure to have a title slide with the title of your talk, the authors names, listing yours first, your department at CSU Dominguez Hills as well as the departments and schools of the other authors if they are off campus. The audience needs to visually see the title, who did the study and where the authors are located.
Also have a slide at the end of your talk acknowledging those who helped you complete your study and well as any grant or other support that enabled you to do your research, scholarship or creative activity.
Posters must be mounted on a hard backing to stand on a presentation easel. No posters can be adhered to the walls of the display area.
The organizers have tri-fold boards available for your poster. You can mount your text, graphs/tables or other information to the boards. You may also use other types of thick, rigid cardboard to support your poster. If you need a board, please contact Dr. Price or Dr. Cauthen.
Posters should have an introduction, methods, results and conclusions section along with a listing of the literature cited and acknowledgements to those who helped you complete your project. Please consult with your faculty mentor to design your poster as if it were being presented at a professional conference in your field. All presentations whether they are oral or via poster must include a statement as to the significance of the work.
Oral presentations and poster presentations, displays and other exhibits will be judged. Students receiving top scores will receive monetary awards of $100 and runners-up will receive $50.
The table below shows the scoring criteria used by the judges. There are three judges per presentation. Oral and poster presentations will be judged using the same criteria.

The top ten highest scored oral presentations will represent CSU Dominguez Hills at the statewide CSU Student Research Competition to be held at one of the 23 CSU campuses.
