Eight Steps to Ensure Grants Clearance and Submission

The newly approved Eight Steps to Ensure Grants Clearance and Submission [MS Word Document] guidance for submitting grant and contract proposals through the Office Research and Funded Projects (ORFP) will replace the "Six Steps to Ensure Grants Clearance and Submission". These new guidelines were developed in consultation with the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Administration and Finance. They will be effective March 26, 2012.

The new guidelines specify the following changes:

  1. All budgets for grants and contracts must be developed and approved by CSUDH Foundation staff rather than the Office of Research and Funded Projects. Clearance and submission of grants and contracts will still be coordinated by the ORFP staff.
  2. Any re-characterization of state-supported space as research space or designation of new space to be used predominantly for research must be approved in writing by the Vice President for Administration and Finance prior to circulation of the institutional clearance form. A new form for the VP’s signature is available from ORFP. A copy of this form will be sent to the AVP for Academic Resources Management and Planning and the Academic Affairs Space Committee.
  3. Any commitment of matching funds in a grant or contract proposal must be approved in writing by the appropriate dean in consultation with their ARM prior to circulation of the institutional clearance form. A new form for the dean’s signature is available from ORFP. A copy of this form will be sent to the AVP for Academic Resources Management and Planning.
