Scott Morris gave his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1998 and has appeared as a soloist throughout North America, Europe and Asia including festivals in Germany, England, Austria, Mexico, China, and the US. He is a founding member of the groundbreaking eclectic guitar trio Line Forms Hear along with Julian Coryell and Steven Thachuk.
Morris has released five commercially available CDs including Invocation (Eroica), Danza (Eroica), and The Guitar Music of Paganini (Centaur), working with longtime Neil Young producer Niko Bolas. Morris has performed and recorded with artists as diverse as Steve Perry (ex-Journey), Martin Chalifour (LA Phil Concertmaster), Jeff Young (ex-Megadeth), and Richard Kravchak (oboe/English horn). His latest recording entitled Phonology, is a collection of his original arrangements of Erik Satie for solo guitar, guitar and English horn, and guitar and voice.
Morris authored Classical Guitar Complete: from Basics to Bach, a guitar method book, released by MidShelf Music, focusing on college-level guitar instruction with an emphasis on technique, reading, guitar history, and music fundamentals.
20th Century Guitar Magazine called Morris’ recording of Paganini a “classical guitar masterpiece” and American Record Guide says, “he plays with considerable elegance and charm.”
Morris directed the 2007 Guitar Foundation of America Convention and serves as artistic director for the annual Dominguez Hills Guitar Festival. Scott Morris has been on the CSU Domniguez Hills music faculty since 2004.
