Upgrading 3 Welch Hall Instructional Classrooms

All in WH-C155, WH-F144, and WH-F154 will be replaced by new all-in-one computers in a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Environment.

Blackboard

On Friday, May 26, 2017 beginning at 3:30 a.m. and ending on or before 5:30 p.m., Blackboard will be offline for maintenance and security upgrades. During this timeframe, you will be unable to access Blackboard. Please plan accordingly.

Campus Network Initiative Projects

The Common Network Initiative (CNI) is an ongoing effort, funded by the Chancellor’s Office to maintain campus baseline network infrastructure as technology advances and user needs evolve.

Pilot Replacement

A pilot replacement is scheduled for the week of May 22 for SCC 1, 2, 5 and 13.

Network Access Switch Replacement

IT, Infrastructure and AT&T will be replacing all network access switches in state buildings during JUNE and JULY, MONDAY through THURSDAY, from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. A week prior to scheduled upgrade, affected areas will receive a notice.  Most of the campus should experience only a few seconds of downtime and VoIP phones will reboot.

After the upgrade, if you find there is an issue, please notify our Helpdesk immediately by calling Ext. 2500 or submitting a ServiceNow ticket at https://csudh.service-now.com

HR/Student(CS) Split & Upgrade

The original CHRS Project has transformed into two separate projects.  The first project will split our current PeopleSoft HR/CS system and upgrade the Student (CS) system.  The second part will combine all system-wide HR systems into a single CHRS environment.

Our campus schedule for the HR/CS Split & Upgrade will begin in May 2017 and complete on November 6, 2017.  Our production PeopleSoft HR/Student system will be unavailable from the evening of Thursday, November 2, 2017 thru Monday, November 6, 2017.

Web Upgrade

CSUDH will be upgrading CM1 web content management system and our website templates.  The new website templates will offer a responsive design that will accommodate mobile devices, tablets, and various browsers.  A new design will also be applied to improve the user experience.  

Upgrade Date: Summer 2017

The upgrade will be completed during the summer of 2017 and the new website by Fall 2017.

ServiceNow - Help Desk Ticketing System

The Division of Information Technology will be implementing a new Help Desk ticketing system (ServiceNow) on June 2, 2014.  This system is more robust than our current system and will be used for incident, asset, project, and change management tracking.  Training was available to all employees last week and we received positive feedback from the attendees.

Enterprise Email System Upgrade to Exchange 2013

The Division of Information Technology will be upgrading the campus email system to Microsoft Exchange 2013 beginning on March 24th 2014 through March 28th 2014. All users will receive an email as a reminder prior to the day of their scheduled migration to Exchange 2013. Your mailbox migration will occur the evening of your scheduled migration date (from 10pm – 5am the next day). This upgrade will improve performance, provide additional capacity and features to users for email storage.

Now Available – Student, Faculty and Staff At Home User Software - Microsoft

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to announce the partnership with Microsoft, Inc through obtaining a site-wide license agreement for a line of Microsoft software. The software is available to current / active students for free.  State Faculty and Staff employees may purchase the software at a reduced cost of $9.75.

NOTE:  College of Extended Education students are NOT eligible for software due to the license agreement.

Faculty and Staff:  Obtain Microsoft software by visiting IT Services – Software – Staff-Faculty.

NOTE:  Microsoft software only applies to active (or current) State Faculty/Staff employees. ASI, OLLI, Emeritus, and College of Extended Education faculty/staff are NOT eligible for software due to the terms of the license agreement.


Now Available –Adobe At Home Use Software for Students, Faculty and Staff

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to announce the partnership with Adobe Systems, Inc through obtaining a site-wide license agreement for a line of Adobe Suite Creative software. Adobe Creative Cloud Enterprise and Acrobat XI Pro download software is now available to actively enrolled students at a reduced cost of $53 (includes a $9.75 processing fee).  The software suite is also available to State Faculty and Staff employees for free.

NOTE:  Students majoring in Art, Digital Media Arts, Communications, Education, Geology and Geography may be eligible to receive the Adobe software for free. Check to see if you are qualify for the free software. College of Extended Education students are NOT eligible for software due to the license agreement.

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to announce the licensing of the entire library of the lynda.com online training tutorials. Online access is available to all current (active) CSUDH students, faculty, and staff.

Learning sessions are split into manageable segments to accommodate busy schedules and to help you find quick answers to specific questions. These video based tutorials are taught by professionals in the industry and available at any time for convenient access to self-paced learning.
