Housing Application Checklist

STEP 1: Make Sure You're Eligible

To be eligible for University Housing, you must:

  • Be an admitted undergraduate or graduate student for the term you are applying for.
  • Have filed your Intent to Enroll form for the term for which you've been admitted. Log in to My.CSUDH.EDU and go to Application Status, Accept/Decline and then select I Accept Admission or I Decline Admission.

Current students may apply for housing, as long as they are enrolled for the upcoming term.

Please note that current or transfer students MUST have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to be eligible for on-campus housing. No exceptions will be made.

Housing does not accommodate families or children.

STEP 2: Apply Online

Apply online. Paper applications are no longer accepted. Be sure to:

  • Apply as early as possible, since housing is limited and spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Apply before the priority application date (see deadlines above). Please note that applying by the deadline does NOT guarantee you a space, but will increase your chances of being offered a space.

Students who apply after the priority deadline will be added to a waiting list and considered on a space-available basis.

STEP 3: Submit Your $30 Application Fee within 5 Days of Submitting Your Housing Application

To complete your housing application, you MUST pay a Housing Application fee of $30.00 online at My.CSUDH.EDU using Toropay, or by mailing a check or money order (payable to CSUDH Housing) to:

Your $30 Housing Application Fee MUST be paid within 5 business days in order for your application to be considered processed. Failure to pay the fee within 5 business days will result in the cancellation of your application.

BOTH your application AND the $30 fee MUST be received by the priority deadline in order to make the priority cut-off date. Submitting an application by the deadline, but paying the $30 application fee AFTER the deadline will result in your being placed on the waiting list.

Please be aware that it may take up to 48 hours for the application fee to appear on your account. This fee is non-refundable.

Note: You are required to pay the $30 Application Fee only ONCE per academic year. For instance, if you applied for the 2016-17 Academic Year but were not offered a space, and you decide to apply for Spring 2017, then you will not have to pay the $30 Application Fee again.

STEP 4: Submit a $300 Security Deposit

Students who apply by the priority deadline and who are offered a space will be asked to submit a $300 Security Deposit to reserve their place in Housing. After you've received this request, you may pay your deposit online at My.CSUDH.EDU using Toropay, or by mailing a check or money order (payable to CSUDH Housing) to:

  • Please wait until University Housing contacts you before sending in the Security Deposit.
  • If paying by check, please ensure that the student's name and Student ID number are noted on the check.
  • The Security Deposit MUST be received by the deadline in order to reserve your space in University Housing.
  • The Security Deposit due date for Spring 2017 will be November 18, 2016.
  • The Security Deposit due date for the 2017-18 Academic Year will be May 31, 2017.
  • The Security Deposit CANNOT be deferred to Financial Aid. 
  • Students will be accommodated in housing, based upon the receipt of their security deposit, on a first-come, first-served basis.

STEP 5: Submit Your First Rent Payment

Students who submit a $300 Security Deposit will then be asked to make a rent payment. At the time you submit your deposit, you will also be asked to choose a Payment Plan option. The first rent payment for Spring 2017 will be due on December 12, 2016; the first rent payment for 2017-18 will be due on July 10, 2017. Financial Aid recipients will have the option of deferring that payment by completing a Deferment of Rental Fees Agreement

STEP 6: Enroll before December 1, 2016 for Spring 2017, or before July 1, 2017 for the 2017-18 Academic Year

All University Housing students must be enrolled at least part-time by the dates noted above for the term they're applying for, or risk losing their reserved space in Housing.
