Early Assessment Program (EAP)

Learning early about your readiness for college is important. Although you may have passed all your high school courses, many students are still not yet prepared for freshman-level college English and math when they enter a university. This is true even for students with strong grade point averages from high school.

To make sure that you know what you need to do to be ready for your freshman year of college, start by taking the EAP in your junior year of high school.

What You Need To Know To Be Ready

To help high school students get ready for university coursework and life, the State Board of Education (SBE), the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California State University (CSU) joined to develop the Early Assessment Program (EAP). Through this program, California public high school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to:

  • Find out how ready you are for college-level English and math classes, early on
  • Spend a whole year building your skills in these subjects
  • Earn an exemption from taking the placements tests required by the CSU
  • Start your CSUDH experience strong

EAP test results may also be used at participating California Community Colleges. For the latest list of California Community Colleges accepting EAP results, please visit the CCC Chancellor's Office website. http://extranet.cccco.edu/Divisions/StudentServices/EAP/AcceptingEAP.aspx
