Bob is the chief administrative officer for the South Bay Medical Center where he leads operations and provides strategic oversight for the SCPMG providing care to over 200,000 health plan members and their families in the South Bay.
Bob began his career at Kaiser Permanente as an Administrative Resident at the South Bay Medical Center in 1987. He then moved to Bellflower as KFH Finance Director. Bob spent 16 years as an Assistant Medical Group Administrator for the Bellflower (now Downey) and Riverside areas where he led and improved operational performance and had direct oversight for Primary Care, Specialty, Surgical, Behavioral Health, and Ancillary Support Service Departments in the Hospital. He led operations for both medical centers in service, access, clinical quality, population care management, diversity, clinical community outreach and member health education.
Prior to his current role, Bob was the Manager of Clinical Operations for the SCPMG Region. In this role, he developed integrated decision support and functionality in our electronic systems to support a more efficient operation, which resulted in significant improvement in strategic clinical outcomes throughout Southern California. He initiated work in SCAL now referred to nationally as Proactive Encounter (POE) and Back Office Support which have been implemented throughout SCAL and shared nationally across the KP Program. In addition to quality outcome improvements, results include improved proactive support to our patients and physicians in primary and specialty care. Bob provided leadership in SCAL for SCPMG 's readiness/or Disaster Preparedness and initiated a number of efforts aimed at improving SCPMG 's response capability in the event of a disaster.
Bob Blair received his bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Utah. He earned his master's Degree in Health Services Management from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Bob speaks fluent Spanish and is an Eagle Scout. He is active in the community and academia, and has served in and on numerous community and professional boards and organizations.
