Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL)

Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL), a 12-unit graduate certificate program, is designed for working professionals and individuals who are seeking advanced training and knowledge in the broad field of higher education administration and leadership. The program’s unique curriculum focuses on the four core aspects of today’s higher education administration: leadership, legal issues, finance, and diversity.

HEAL addresses the needs of career-focused professionals within a continuously changing and complex higher education environment. Program participants will interact with higher education expert faculty and have an opportunity to further develop and expand their professional networks. The HEAL curriculum is based on current research and advanced teaching methodologies. Program objectives are to:

  • Provide participants with a strong foundation in theory and current practice of higher education administration and leadership;
  • Help participants develop their capacity to analyze and address complex issues and challenges facing higher education;
  • Prepare participants to become informed, collaborative, and more effective higher education administrators; and
  • Inspire participants to continuously promote success and innovation among diverse higher education constituencies by exhibiting critical thinking and analysis, as well as inclusion and collaboration.

To apply to the HEAL Graduate Certificate program:

  1. Apply before the deadline of November 15, 2017.
  2. Complete the University application at Cal State Apply before you complete the program application.
  3. Complete the College of Education program application online using the Apply Now webpage.  If you have not done so before, you will need to first create a FluidReview account to begin a program application.  If you run into complications please contact Jeanette Perez and/or Program Admissions at (310) 243-3530 or via email at jperez@csudh.edu.  Submit the $50.00 program application fee (check or money order made payable to CSUDH) to the Student Services Center in Bldg14 (COE 1412) in the College of Education or mail to COE Student Services Center, 1000 E. Victoria St., COE 1412, Carson, CA 90747.
  4. Attach your current professional résumé to the program application.
  5. Attach three letters of recommendation/professional references to the program application.
