Lori Minor, President
Lori Minor earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from CSUDH and joined Pi Alpha Alpha in 2007. She became Vice President of PAA in 2009 and President in January 2010. She expects to be conferred her Master of Science degree in Public Administration from CSUDH in May 2010.
Lori has worked for Los Angeles Harbor College for eight years. Her current position is Academic Scheduling Specialist. Lori enjoys helping others, cooking, spending time with family and friends and has recently taken up gardening.
Lori is also a member of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA).
Deidre Knighten, Vice President
Deidre Knighten earned a BA in Public Administration from CSUDH in 2007, and will graduate with her Masters of Public Administration this May 2010. She joined Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society in 2006. She was elected Dominguez Hills Chapter Secretary in 2008, and was voted Vice President of Pi Alpha Alpha in 2010.
Deidre currently works as a Veteran Service Representative (VSR) at the Department of Veterans Affairs in West Los Angeles since May 2007 and she is planning on opening a nonprofit home for women and children in the near future.
Her professional goals include supporting initiatives to help support returning veterans with PTSD and help reintegrate them to civilian life. Deidre lives in Long Beach with her children and she enjoys comedy, bowling, and reading.
Linda Gillespie, Secretary
Johnny Thomas, Treasurer
Johnny Thomas earned a Master of Public Administration degree from CSUDH, and joined Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society in 2006. He was elected Dominguez Hills Chapter Treasurer in 2008, serving a two year term. Johnny previously taught as an Adjunct Instructor at CSUDH, College of Business Administration and Public Policy, teaching Public Administration Health Policy.
Johnny currently works as an Interventional Services Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and has been with the Medical Center since 1988. His professional goals include supporting initiatives to achieve performance improvement, operational efficiency and strategic planning for Surgical Administration/Interventional Services.
Johnny lives in the South Bay with his wife, enjoys family, golf, cooking and kayaking.
Dr. Iris Baxter, Faculty Advisor
Dr. Iris A. Baxter is a Professor of Public Administration in the School of Business and Public Administration at California State University Dominguez Hills. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management and a Master of Public Administration at CSUDH, she completed my doctorate in Public Administration at the University of Southern California (USC).
Dr. Baxter is a member of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) and serve on their Executive Board as Co-Vice President of Programs. In addition to serving as the current president of the Southern California Chapter of the Conference of Minority Public Administrators, she also has memberships in the Academy of Management, the Society for the Study of Social Problems, American Association of University Professors, and the Academy of Health Services Research.
She and her husband live in Los Angeles and have two grown sons and one beautiful granddaughter, named Jessica. When not teaching, she and her husband enjoy traveling, are avid Los Angeles Lakers fans, and enjoy attending jazz concerts.
