Munashe Furusa, Ph.D.

As Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at CSU Dominguez Hills, Dr. Munashe Furusa, serves as the primary point of contact for all academic and administrative matters falling under the purview of the College. As the dean he provides leadership and representation for the College within the University and the community.
His career at CSU Dominguez Hills has included serving as acting associate dean for the College of Arts and Humanities, chair and associate professor of Africana Studies, chair of the Academic Senate, chair of the General Education Committee and director of the Institute for Global Intercultural Peacebuilding.
Dr. Furusa also serves as the Executive Director of the California African American Political and Economic Institute (CAAPEI) at CSU Dominguez Hills.
Before joining CSU Dominguez Hills, Dr. Furusa held numerous positions ranging in scope from high school principal in Zimbabwe to a national role as Chairman of the Zimbabwe Literature Curriculum Development Committee.
He has received many recognition awards including the prestigious Lyle E. Gibson Distinguished Teacher Award from CSUDH in 2004.
Dr. Furusa is an esteemed scholar, and prolific author and lecturer, who is fluent in English, Shona, and Ndebele.
Dr. Furusa received a Ph.D. in African Literature and Critical Theory, and a M.A. and B.A. in English, from the University of Zimbabwe.
