NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

START STRONG AT CSUDH

Whether you’re an incoming freshman, transfer student, graduate student, international student, or veteran student, attending new student orientation at CSUDH is a great way to get hands-on help registering for the right classes, familiarize yourself with the campus, and learn about key student services and resources available to support your success on campus, in class, and in the world beyond.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION

Starting at a four-year college can be a big transition for many students. We know you may have questions about what to expect, where to go, and what next steps to take. Start by attending New Student Orientation for freshmen. Mandatory for all new freshmen, NSO is where you’ll register for classes, learn about financial aid, and more.

LIBERAL ARTS STUDENT ORIENTATION

If you’re majoring in Liberal Studies at CSUDH, you’ll still want to attend NSO. But you’ll also need to attend a separate mandatory Liberal Studies advising meeting. You’ll be receiving a brochure about this meeting in the mail, so be sure to reserve your spot for Liberal Studies advising once you get it. Contact the Liberal Studies Advising Center at (310) 243-3832 to learn more.

TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION

We’re here to make transferring to our campus easier for you. That’s why we strongly encourage you to attend New Student Orientation for transfer students. Although you have been to college before, there are some important differences at CSUDH. Attending orientation for transfer students will help navigate those differences, while maximizing your time and your success.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

If you’re an International Student, please attend a special New International Student Orientation to get information on visa issues, maintaining legal status, and other important details on transitioning to university life in the US.

VETERAN PROGRAM AT ORIENTATION

Veteran Students and their dependents are welcome to attend a New Student Orientation with a Veteran Program for more information on individualized assistance and services available on campus for veterans, active duty personnel and their family members. Contact the VSP Office at (310) 243-3643 to learn more.

GRADUATE STUDENT ORIENTATION

If you’re entering a graduate program at CSUDH, your graduate program may have a program-specific orientation for graduate students. To find out if a graduate orientation is available in your program, contact the academic department for your degree.
