James Main is the senior vice president & chief operating officer of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. He is a thirty-five year career, higher education professional with experiences in all facets of college and university administration. He was the former Vice President for Administration and Finance at California State University, Monterey Bay for 3.5 years. Previous to CSU, Monterey Bay, James was the Vice President for Finance and Administration at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon for just under 3 years. Prior to his time in Oregon, Jim was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for more than 18 years.
In addition to these leadership experiences, Jim worked at the University of Texas at Austin, Trenton State College in New Jersey, Brown University in Providence, RI, and the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. Jim has been active in NACUBO/WACUBO, and previously served CACUBO. Also, he has served on NACUBO’s Small Institutions Council. In addition, Jim has previously provided various presentations and/or served as a panel member/facilitator/moderator at NACUBO, CACUBO, EACUBO, WACUBO, NACAS, NACUFS, APPA, & ACUHO-I.
